New portal features in the VCOM Cloud, a new turnkey solution for systems up to 750 kWp and SCADA for solar parks with local maintenance personnel: These are just a few of the things visitors can expect to see live at meteocontrol GmbH’s booth 230 in hall B2 under the thematic umbrella of information security.
Systematic security concept
“Information security has been our highest priority at meteocontrol since long before the ‘WannaCry’ cyber attacks,” says Robert Pfatischer, Managing Director of meteocontrol. “We work continuously on bettering our security concept and are pursuing ISO 27001-certification. Even if the operator is ultimately responsible for system security, we implement the most current security standards in our hardware and software so that our customers are always secured.” The company will present the latest updates at Intersolar. Port forwarding in conjunction with the blue’log X series has long been unnecessary. The public accessibility of the data loggers is thus systematically prevented from the outset. The encrypted connection to the VCOM Cloud enables secure, convenient remote access for maintenance and setup. The data logger itself is upgradeable at every level up to the Linux Kernel so that general vulnerabilities such as those found in TLS encryption can be rectified quickly, too. Special security against digital attacks is also a requirement in direct marketing. “We use Insys routers in our stations for encrypted VPN connection to the direct marketer so that we can stay up-to-date even with rapid technological advancements and high standards,” explains Pfatischer.
What to see at the booth: Station for 750 kWp solutions and the SCADA system
At our booth, operators of PV systems with an installed output of up to 750 kWp can discover our fully encrypted turnkey solutions for monitoring, grid feed-in management and direct marketing. For a fixed price you will receive a system solution – including the control cabinet and the necessary components – that is customized to meet your requirements. meteocontrol manages every phase of the project, from project planning to system commissioning. The package price includes all travel costs within Germany.
In a live demo, meteocontrol will present the SCADA Center for system monitoring on site. Data is stored in a local industrial server, enabling monitoring to take place independent of a stable internet connection. The maintenance personnel can monitor and control the system in real time and rectify any faults quickly. meteocontrol recently installed the local monitoring system for a 20-MWp PV system in Japan.
meteocontrol grants longer manufacturer’s warranty
For projects with complete solutions, meteocontrol is now granting its partners a project-related manufacturer's warranty of five years on all supplied hardware components. The warranty applies to complete solutions that comprise the planning, supply and commissioning of the system by meteocontrol. Naturally the statutory warranty period of 24 months applies even if the customer does not take advantage of the project-related manufacturer's warranty.
VCOM Cloud: Monthly releases with new features
meteocontrol continuously refines the VCOM Cloud and delivers new software features every month to make the portal more user-friendly, provide innovative analysis tools, and make the monitoring of large system portfolios more effective. The company has been able to successfully integrate the measurement data of different monitoring systems and platforms into the VCOM Cloud. Different PV projects can thus be bundled together ideally and monitored and controlled efficiently. The new VCOM Cloud API (Application Programming Interface) is another example of the innovative development ongoing in the software division: The interface enables data retrieval from measuring and technical system data, as well as the VCOM Cloud connection to third-party systems. meteocontrol plans to present its innovations in reporting with the next release in June.
